Pleasure Activism

Intro to Pleasure Activism is a semi-facilitated, experiential learning space to collectively ground in joy as a radical tool for social change.

This is the first event for the Care Economy Series, a collection of workshops and roundtable discussions for community empowerment. Before diving into economic models, we must ground ourselves in what feels good for us, as individuals and us, as collective people. We cannot hustle without intention and alignment (that is where we fall into exploitation, prioritizing profit over purpose).

The night will be filled with meditations, mapping, movement, and learning. Lessons are derived from the book, Pleasure Activism by adrienne maree brown and other resources.

Things to know if you plan on attending:

- Bring a mat and comfortable clothes for movement. You are welcome to wear as little or as much clothing as you’d like during movement- semi-nudity is chill. We ask that you keep your bottoms on! Thanks! (This is a body positive space, please do not comment on people’s bodies).

- This is a space that honors people’s consent. Please do not touch people without consent (verbal/physical). You don’t need to participate in anything you don’t want to. Follow your gut!

- If you can, bring snacks or food that brings you the utmost joy!

- This space is 420 friendly, indoors. Tobacco friendly outside. Bring something to enjoy or bring cash:) I would personally recommend being sober for the first part of this event, but it’s up to you:) No judgements<3

- This space centers creatives, artists, (aspiring) entrepreneurs, QTBIPOC, neurodivergent / sick folx, white accomplices, and community centered beings!

- This is not a play/sex party. Feel like I just have to say that so that it’s clear, haha.

Tickets are sliding scale from $10-30. Early Bird tickets end July 20th!

Access info: The event is up a steep 5 meter walk from the street. There are 5 stairs outside and 2 stairs inside. Masks encouraged, test prior preferred. Indoors with windows opened.
